Review – Critique: The Secrets of Peaches (Secrets de pêches)

Book description: After a magical summer living on a peach orchard, Murphy, Leeda, and Birdie confront a series of breakups, makeups, and takeoffs. They may have to leave one another, along with the orchard that brought them together. But despite their heartbreak, this year’s bittersweet endings could lead to the sweetest of new beginnings.

So, what did I think about this book?

Once again, I’m writing more than a week after finishing the book, I guess I’ll just have to accept I won’t be able to be on my blog a lot while I’m in Scotland. I was extremely excited to start this book as I loved the first one.

It was as good as Peaches, I really fell in love with that series. I love the author’s style and the nostalgia she can put in her books. The way the characters feel alive, and the dialogues which look totally natural. I think it is a total success. It is even better than the predecessor. A beautiful story about friendship and growing up with characters that are perfect. A delicious book, if you liked the first one, you will definitely love this one. I could really relate to the characters sometimes and I felt like going back to my last year in high school. The story is quite sad though, don’t expect it to be light and entertaining. I absolutely recommend it to girls. It’s one of the best young-adult chick-lit books I’ve read.

Résumé: Murphy l’indisciplinée est impatiente de réaliser son grand rêve : aller à New York. Leeda mademoiselle-perfection lutte pour échapper à l’emprise de sa mère. Birdie la timide accepterait bien l’invitation de son petit ami Enrico au Mexique. Oseront-elles relever les défis qui se présentent à elles ? L’automne risque d’avoir un goût doux-amer. Mais ce serait compter sans l’inestimable pouvoir de l’amitié…

Qu’est-ce que j’en ai pensé ?

Encore une fois, j’écris plus d’une semaine après avoir terminé le livre, j’imagine que je vais devoir m’habituer au fait que je ne pourrais pas passer plus de temps que ça sur mon blog tant que je serai en Ecosse.

J’étais vraiment excitée de lire ce livre vu que j’avais adoré le premier tome. Il est aussi bien que Peau de pêche, j’ai vraiment un coup de cœur pour cette série. J’aime le style de l’auteure et la nostalgie qu’elle véhicule à travers ses livres. J’aime la manière dont les personnages ont l’air complètement vivants et les dialogues qui ont l’air parfaitement naturels. Je trouve que c’est un véritable succès. Ce tome est encore mieux que son prédécesseur. Une magnifique histoire sur l’amitié et le passage à l’âge adulte.Un livre délicieux, si vous avez aimé le premier tome, vous allez adorer celui-ci. Je pouvais vraiment m’identifier aux personnages parfois et j’avais l’impression de revivre ma dernière année de lycée. L’histoire est assez triste par contre, ne vous attendez pas à quelque chose de léger et drôle. Je le recommande à toutes les filles. Une des meilleures séries pour jeunes adultes dans le rayon chick-lit que j’ai lus.
